My American Child

NTA Members. MyAmericanChild is a new and exciting web service aimed at getting far more children to benefit from SES. Please visit www.myamericanchild.com as soon as possible. You have a great opportunity to promote your services and support their efforts to bring students to you. Please note that this is a growing service and not all SES providers are listed in the system at this time.

Train for NTA Certification

The NTA is dedicated to providing an increasingly wide range of training and certification opportunities for practitioners in every sector of the tutoring community. We offer the following ways to receive training and gain certification.

NTA Legacy Project

The National Tutoring Association invites all members to participate in an ongoing "Legacy and Recognition Project." Our goal is to produce a quilt large enough to cover every wall in the banquet room of the conference hotel. This quilt will travel to all national conferences where NTA is represented. How can you be involved?

We are asking that every individual, program, or institutional member contribute squares for the quilt. These squares should be hand made by your tutors and can be submitted in honor of your tutors, your program achievements, the passing of a colleague, or any other significant event. We ask that each submission be limited to 4 squares total. The guidelines are listed below, but please feel free to contact Laura Symons (lsymons@pvcc.edu) if you have any questions about the project. Although we will be accepting squares on an ongoing basis, please send your squares to our main office address no later than March 1, 2007 for inclusion in the quilt that will be displayed at the annual conference April 14-18, 2007 in Denver, CO.

Guidelines . . . .

  • All squares are to measure 12" x12" with the design no larger than 10" x 10"
  • You may embroider, quilt, appliqué, use fabric paint, or iron on images to create your design. Please do not glue items to your square.
  • Please use 100% cotton materials for the basis of your square. Please do not submit squares made from leather, pleather, vinyl, plastic, heavy canvas, heavy denim, silk, easily frayed material, or any type of stretchy material.
  • Please pin a piece of paper to each square that lists, your name, your school, phone number, e-mail, date your square was completed, names of those who worked on the square, and reason behind the design. This information will become part of the permanent record of the quilt.
  • Mail squares to: NTA Legacy Project, PO Box 6840, Lakeland, FL, 33807-6840.
